BANGALORE: Drawing around 2.5 lakh visitors, 8,000 delegates from across the country and the sale of about four crore Sanskrit books,the fourday World Sanskrit Book Fair proved to be a great success.

Impressed by the response, the ministers of New Delhi, Uttarakhand,Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh expressed their wish to host the next World Samskrit Book Fair in their respective states.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, N Gopalaswamy, Trustee, Sanskrit Promotion Foundation and former chief election commissioner of India said, "We hope to make this an annual affair and take this forward to

all parts of the country. More Sanskrit books will be printed and in order to encourage Sanskrit learning, we want to make it simpler so that students need not study Sanskrit in translated version."

The model Sanskrit village displayed at the exhibition was the centre of attraction. Besides, about 25 vice - chancellors of Sanskrit universities from across the country were also present.

"The participation during the fair has proved that Samskrit is the fastgrowing language. The advent of yoga, ayurveda and vedanta has further enhanced Samskrit learning. We are ready to provide training

for teachers as well," he added.

More than 300 Samskrit books were released during the fair

Singapore Sri Mukundan immediately replied that it is the Sanskrit book fair meeting at Bangalore. He always has answers for anything and everything. 

And this huge crowd indicates that the language Sanskrit is not dead as some politicians doing business in the name of Tamil here quite often declare (and unfortunately which we brahmins at Tamilnadu also begin to believe in large numbers, thereby neglecting to study it) and it will regain its glory in the cming years. See the large queue of School children and young boys waiting at the outside of the fair.
